Bates & Co running away with it.

We have come to chat with Ian of bates & Co about his attempt at running three 1/2 marathons followed by the Brighton Marathon a grueling 26.2 miles on 18th April 2010. Over the last five years we have all come to recognize Bates & Co as one of those agents that seem to go the extra mile having raised money for new football shirts for Polegate Grasshoppers under 11’s and giving money to Hellingly Rugby Club playing out of Hailsham but this is by far the greatest challenge.

Ian what made you decide to under take this series of events?

Like many others who will be running it had and is something I have privately always wanted to do and initially had decided not to tell anyone outside of the family. If though I can raise some money for local sports teams and the xxxxxxxxxxxx charity then this might just help me get through that 20mile barrier.

If people are reading this paper and would like to donate from a few pence upwards how can they?

The simple thing to do would be to drop into one of our branches either in Eastbourne, 14 Gildredge Rd or Hailsham, George Street and either pledge a sum of money or donate. Otherwise some people have sent cheque.

What made you chose this combination of clubs and charities? I have always enjoyed sport with local clubs always in need of  help with fundraising. Also as a farther any charity relating to children will always be an easy one to support so if people want to specify their donation then please feel free and we at bates & Co will make sure the money gets to the appropriate club of charity.
